EMWA - Earth Mineral Water ๐ŸŒŠ

Water as a Travel Souvenir for Our Fellow Alien Tourists

Concept

To explore science fiction through brand identity, I created a bottled-water company that sells โ€œEarth Mineral Waterโ€ to alien tourists visiting planet Earth. The idea was inspired by The Hitchhikerโ€™s Guide to the Galaxy. The aluminum bottle works like a roly-poly toy, so it always rights itself instead of falling over. Its design draws on the historical relationship between humanity and water, the effects of global warming on Earthโ€™s water systems, and the role water has played in creating and shaping life. I also created a commercial website for the bottle and its story.

Ideation

I started by sketching a water bottle based on the organic form of a cell. Every concept has a rounded, weighted base and an aluminum body, the two key components of the design.

Type Type

For the logo, I created a custom EMWA typeface containing just four letters: A, E, M, and W. Its forms are based on the futuristic geometry of spaceships. I used Helvetica Neue for the rest of the website because of its clean, slim appearance.

Render2

After coming up with a final sketch for my water bottle, I constructed a 3D version of it in Maya.

I then exported the 3D model to Illustrator and created the frames for my websiteโ€™s GIF animations.
